Fall has officially arrived, and that means it’s time for pumpkin everything!! If you are like me, and you have a Pinterest board full of pumpkin recipes that you want to make, but you’re trying to eat healthy, then this pumpkin pie protein smoothie is for you.
I make this smoothie every weekday for lunch. It’s packed with protein, so you stay full, and it’s sweet enough that you feel like you’re getting to indulge in a slice of pumpkin pie without the calories. Depending on the protein powder you use this smoothie is only around 200 calories.
If you are like me and make smoothies on a daily basis, I also recommend getting a NurtiBullet. I love that I can blend my smoothies in the NutriBullet cup and insert a straw to drink. No need to dirty up another glass.

After experimenting with this recipe, I discovered two secrets to an excellent pumpkin pie smoothie.
1. Using Kefir or high-quality Greek vanilla yogurt. I also like to use Kefir, (which can be found in the milk section at your local grocery store) because it’s high in nutrients and probiotics, and is incredibly beneficial for digestion and gut health.
2. Using frozen pumpkin cubes instead of ice. I found that the ice waters down the flavors of the smoothie, so I make my own pumpkin cubes by placing 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree in each cube holder and place in the freezer.
So the next time your craving that sweet pumpkin treat, make this protein shake and don’t feel guilty about it.
